British Years vs. American Grades – Just for Year VIII

Student’s Guide on TES to NEW SCHOOL (IN KW):

This doccument is for the pupils in Year 8 of 2014-2015

T.E.S is the best school in Kuwait – no kidding.

Here are the Grades Conversions for different ages:

Switching from TES to AIS, ASK or AUS is fine here in Kuwait, but you be careful, when you move, you may be put down a grade than you actually are.

So, Year 8 is our last year in TES. If you move to BSK, NES or KES, then next year you will move to Year 9 (WHICH IS ON TRACK)

If you want to move to AIS, ASK or AUS, then next year you will either be moved to Grade 8 or 9. YOU WANT TO MOVE TO GRADE 9. BUT, within your age, you are supposed to be in Grade 8. This is not what we want because you’ll learn Year 8 again as Americans start school a year after the British.

So John, What do I do if I switch to the American curricula?

There is one simple answer. WORK HARD. If you don’t want your education to get messed up, then it is a must to prove to the school that you are capable enough to work a year above your age.

Weeks or months before the test, you should start revising and do research on what you need to learn to prove that you have finished Grade 8. If you want to learn about Core standards in 50 states in USA (Core Standards in Kuwait are General), visit one of these sites:

If you pass your test and you are going to Grade 9 (1 year above), then you will be on track. If you need help, you can ask me for help any time.
